How to Become a Member

You have to be a Sell It For Free.com Member before you can post ads.  Becoming a Member makes it easier for us to personalize your account, and for you to rapidly post multiple ads.

1.  Sign Up for New Account:  http://www.sellitforfree.com/Sellers/Register.aspx
2. Create a User Name.

• User Name can be anything you like!
• Remember that Buyers can see your User Name, so make it descriptive of your business.

3. Create a Password, and then confirm the Password.
4. Enter the e-mail address where SellItForFree.com can contact you.
   • This e-mail address will receive messages from Buyers, so make sure it is one that you check frequently.
5. Create your own Security Question and Answer
   • This makes it easy for you to access your account in the event you lose your password.

How to Post an Ad

Once a Member, you’ll be amazed at how fast it takes to post your FREE ads.

1. Go to:  http://www.sellitforfree.com/Sellers/NewAd.aspx.
2. Select the general Ad Category from the drop-down list.
3. Further target your ad by clicking on the appropriate Ad Sub Category.
   • Sellers who correctly target the Sub Category are twice as likely to have their ads found—and to command higher selling prices!
4. Create a descriptive title:
   • Yes:  “Apple MacBook Pro with 15.4” Display”
   • No:  “Apple computer”
5. Enter your Postal Code (Zip code).  Your City, State, and Country designations should automatically fill in.  If not, manually fill in these fields.
6. Fill in the general condition of the product, if applicable.
7. Set a fair price. 
   • A fair price means one that will satisfy you, yet one which the market will bear.
   • Remember to account for any applicable fees related to the sale, such as shipping, sales tax, packing, etc.  Sell It For Free.com is not responsible for any such arrangements between Sellers and Buyers.
8. Upload a picture, if desired.
   • While images are optional, studies show that ads accompanied by pictures sell faster and for higher prices!
9. Write a highly detailed description.
   • The more you tell now, the less you have to explain to interested Buyers in e-mails.
   • Use specifics appropriate to the item:  year, size, weight, color, etc.
10. Click “Save.”  You’re done!

How to Place a Picture in Your Ad

Why put a picture in your ad?  Studies show that ads with pictures sell faster and for more money!

1. Click the “Browse…” button.
2. Select the image you would like to upload.
3. Click “Open” (if using Microsoft Windows).
4. Click Upload.  Yes, it’s that easy!

How to Search for Items or Services

1. Click Search:  http://www.sellitforfree.com/Buyers/Search.aspx?Top=
2. For the most targeted search possible, fill in the Keyword(s), Category, Sub-Category, and Min/Max Price.
   • Remember that highly targeted searches may produce fewer results than desired, especially in categories that have few items.  In that case, broaden the search by removing filters.

How to Respond to an Ad

For Buyers, the truly great thing is how fast and simple it is to contact Sellers.  It takes less than 30 seconds!

1. Fill in Name and E-Mail Address fields.
   • Make sure that the e-mail address is one that you frequently check.
2. Create a Message to Seller.
3. Click “Send.”
